Hello, I'm Gaylene a Qualified Interior Designer with a Diploma in Interior Technologies & a background in Drafting & Building Design of 9 years.

I always knew I wanted to do something creative with my career choice, but interior design wasn't my first passion within the creative field. Fashion design was (I still have some of my scrapbooks and sketches). What started as drawing models and perfect figures soon developed into sketching house plans in grid books - go figure! I was conflicted between the structure of building design and the creativity of fashion design, which ultimately led me to interior design.
After completing my Interior Technologies diploma straight out of high school, I took a year off to ensure that this was the right career path for me. You guessed it... It didn't take long for me to realize that interior design was my true calling, leading me to complete my diploma and embark on my career journey.
However, as fate would have it, my husband and I moved to Gladstone in Central Queensland, where job prospects for interior designers were scarce. After a couple of years of filling in the employment gap with retail work I finally secured a job with a local drafting business. I gained valuable experience in drafting and building design, which led to floor plan development for homes, renovations, and commercial spaces. Over the course of nine years, I gained technical knowledge, became skilled in detailed documentation, and realized my passion for floor plan development and spatial planning. A passion I needed to follow.
These experiences took me full circle; back to where my passion for detail and creativity all started - Interior Design. After gaining knowledge and experience within the industry I decided to pursue my dream of starting my own business. So hear we are Gaylene Drew Designs. My own small business that works in with my other passions - my kids and husband.
As a wife, friend and mother of two young children, I understand the highs and lows of a busy family life. Let me be an understanding and helpful ear in what can be a stressful and overwhelming experience. I offer genuine, helpful and friendly service and am here to support you and your family, through every step of your renovation or build journey.
